How much does a barn wedding cost in Ohio? A realistic 2027 budget
The honest answer: it depends most on three choices. The day of the week, whether your venue forces in-house catering and bar, and how many guests you invite. Here is how to build a realistic number for an Ohio barn wedding.
The big three line items
Venue
Ohio barn venues range from raw-space barns where you rent everything to all-inclusive estates. Compare what is included, not just the starting price. Food
Catering is usually the largest single cost and is priced per guest. Buffets, family-style service, taco bars and food trucks can cost much less than plated dinners. A venue that lets you pick your own caterer lets you shop around.
Drinks
Many barn venues let you supply the alcohol and hire a licensed bartender. A beer-and-wine bar with one signature cocktail often costs far less than a venue bar package. Plan on event liability insurance as well: we require it, and most barn venues do.
Costs couples forget
- Sales tax on the venue and rentals (check whether a quote includes it)
- Tables, chairs and linens if the venue does not include them
- Shuttles and hotel blocks when there is no lodging on site
- Overtime when setup or cleanup runs long
- Cleanup and teardown crews
- A refundable security deposit, which you still need the cash for
Three ways to save without it looking cheaper
- Pick a weekday, a Friday or a Sunday. Monday to Thursday is our lowest price, and a Friday or Sunday day-only wedding costs less than a Saturday.
- Get married off-season. Our December to March dates are 30% less than peak, and April, July, August and November are 25% less. A barn with heat makes a winter wedding cozy instead of cold.
- Choose a venue with lodging. It replaces the hotel, the shuttle and often the rehearsal dinner venue.
